GREAT SUCCESS OF THE MOOC COURSE "THE KEYS OF FOOD PRODUCTION: TECHNOLOGY AND MANAGEMENT"

The course "The keys to food production: Technology and Management" is the first MOOC course organized by the Department of Food Technology of the University of Lleida. To date, 1900 students have registered to the course.
A MOOC course is a free, on-line, open and participatory course, in which students and course materials are distributed and accessible on the web.
This course is surely the first MOOC course that addresses, in Spanish language, the key elements of food production. Through 5 modules the student makes contact with the reality of food raw materials, and their transformation into foods suitable for the consumer. It also studies the needs associated with long shelf-life (through enzymatic and microbial inactivation processes) and the slowing down of deterioration ... all with minimal losses of sensory and nutritional quality and without jeopardize the safety of the food produced.
The course, which began on November 14, has a length of 5 weeks and during this time 30 short videos explain the different topics of the course, with the support of complementary material.
The teachers of the Food Technology Department responsible for the course were: Sonia Marín, Isabel Odriozola, Robert Soliva, Estanislau Fons and Antonio J. Ramos.
